MWAHAHA you've been tricked into reading about Mario before the fun facts. If we're talking about obscure Guitar Hero info, we NEED to talk about this forgotten legend.
Every iconic Guitar Hero character has some sort of gimick or striking feature - something that makes them stand out. Johnny Napalm's Badass name or his perfectly gelled Liberty spikes. Judy Nails' equally badass name and her sweet outfits I was always jealous of. Those characters have stayed relevant for years with their vibrant styles. I still see them, Midori, and others mentioned on Reddit and even Tiktok, but one man I have never seen mentioned is Mario Greendale. His name may strike you as uninteresting or mundane but I assure you that is FAR from the truth. When I was in highschool, my friends would come to my place after to play some Guitar Hero and Rockbank. One day we were playing Guitar Hero Smash Hits and discovered him: Mario. A character with a much less rock and roll sounding name who was wearing a tshirt and jeans. We quickly started a new band, Mario and the Greendales where we all selected him as our charcter. After awhile I did some research into the man himself and came across a single page of information - The Guitar Hero Wiki (besides the few posts asking about him as well.) Now on the guitar hero wiki, IT STATES "Mario Greendale is a former employee of Beenox. He died by electrocution from a high-voltage cable collision during a parachute jump. His presence in the game is a tribute to his life and work by his colleagues." When I read that, my jaw dropped. Sorry - ELECTROCUTION FROM A HIGH-VOLTAGE CABLE COLLISION DUIRING A PARACHUTE JUMP? That's fucking crazy. That's absolutely tragic if it's true, but that's FUCKING CRAZY, right? What a way to go.

The only 'sources' I've ever found for this are the GH Wiki itself, and a link on that same page to this news article I can't read that's no longer available ParachuteUneErreur. I really do hope someone someday is able to tell the story of Mario Greendale. Bro died from Electrocution in a parachute accident. Maybe honor him and play as Mr. Greendale next time you pop in Smash Hits.
